Exposing Cancun’s Dark Side

By sweet_one4now on June 28th, 2006 Posted in Disturbing, Miscellaneous, Rants

Now for a more disturbing post. When I was done reading the stonehenge story something caught my eye. Exposing Cancun’s Dark Side.

It starts out telling you about this lady, Lydia Cacho. She is a Mexican journalist in the resort place of Cancun, Mexico. When she first went there she intended to write novels and live out her life peacefully, but she soon discovered that behind the paradise lurked extreme poverty and oppression. Women have very little rights there and children are at a great risk from sexual predators. This is very sad.

She sits in jail because of a book she wrote about a pedophile ring in Cancun. She tries to get the truth out about all the nastiness that is going on down there and then she becomes what I would almost call a martyr because she is doing what she believes in. And I can not say I blame her for standing up for the right thing. We need more people in this world like this courageous women who is standing up for what is good and right. And less sheeple listening and doing everything they are told. Stand up for what you believe in and make a difference in someone’s life. One person can change the world.

God Bless Lydia Cacho and may she stay strong while she is overcoming this. And may no ones hand be laid upon her. Please God touch the people that are reading this and her captors. Forgive her captors and Lord move in my life so that I may have the courage to do something as astounding as Lydia and get the truth out there. I ask these things in the name of Yehoshua, Amen.

Tropical Stonehenge May Have Been Found

By sweet_one4now on June 27th, 2006 Posted in Miscellaneous

Something I found on yahoo today was pretty interesting. Its about tropical stonehenge. Heres a little excerpt from it and the rest can be found here

SAO PAULO, Brazil — A grouping of granite blocks along a grassy Amazon hilltop may be the vestiges of a centuries-old astronomical observatory a find archaeologists say indicates early rainforest inhabitants were more sophisticated than previously believed.

The 127 blocks, some as high as 9 feet tall, are spaced at regular intervals around the hill, like a crown 100 feet in diameter.

On the shortest day of the year Dec. 21 the shadow of one of the blocks, which is set at an angle, disappears.

“It is this block’s alignment with the winter solstice that leads us to believe the site was once an astronomical observatory,” said Mariana Petry Cabral, an archaeologist at the Amapa State Scientific and Technical Research Institute. “We may be also looking at the remnants of a sophisticated culture.”
